I hate to ask this, especially here. Is there anyone here who has any experience with medicine? Or perhaps....removing things? Please let me know, it is urgent. If not I shall have to brave the so-called healers that reside here.
This is Huaisang. I know some basic field medicine and also anatomy. I could conduct surgery in an emergency situation. If there's no better option, I would be willing to ... remove whatever you need.
[We can probably just handwave. It seems like there are at least two better options than Huaisang to do the actual amputation, so he'll just do a bit of nurse fussing over Anduin, unless you wanted more than that. I'd be willing to play out actually dealing with it and even the amputation if that's something you wanted, but I'm also fine to leave that to the better more experienced medics and just handwave that Huaisang did nurse things.]
[That works, Anduin would be more than grateful for a friendly face to be around and Huaisang is definitely considered that! I can put a log up for us dealing with the aftermath, direct or a few days after if you'd like!]
More information I can do, though I must warn you it isn't pleasant. I was part of the group that went missing and I know that this sounds like madness, but I did not walk out of that place with my own arm. And now it seems this arm has died....It doesn't look healthy.
That is reassuring to know. I am a healer back home but unfortunately my powers did not come with me and this is not something I can fix. I hope to everything that I am simply looking at this wrong, but I know in my heart that it needs to go. I can deal with something not being pleasant.
Such times will only serve to push us all further together.
I am at my home though if you feel it is safer I can meet you in public. As much as I can guess at what is happening here, my own skills don't quite cover it.
I understand, I will admit that walking too far after the latest "incident" has been a little exhausting more recently, so the offer is much appreciated. My address is 325 Midwich street.
[ Anduin hears the door knock and sighs inwardly. He can hardly believe he's even considering this, but even as a healer himself Anduin knows that this arm needs to go. He can barely move it anymore or feel anything on it and the trails leading up the inside of the arm prove that letting it stay put would more than likely kill him.
He opens the door, giving a wan smile. Just because Anduin feels a little feverish doesn't give an excuse to be rude.]
Good to put a face to the name. Please, come on in.
[Gods, he's so young. Whoever took the captives didn't discriminate based on age, they've ranged all across the spectrum, but it's always worse somehow when it's someone young.]
I do apologize for not introducing myself sooner. Better late than never, though.
[Erwin offers his left, only hand for a handshake.]
Shall we go inside, then, so I can get a better look at your arm?
[He already doesn't like the glassy eyes and flushed skin that tells of a fever, and he can't imagine the arm is going to be too pretty.]
No apology needed, everyone has had a lot to deal with since arriving here.
[ Anduin shakes the offered hand, inwardly glad he doesn't have to use the awful one he's come back from being held hostage with. He moves only to usher Erwin inside, closing the door and offering to take the other's coat.]
There is a pot of coffee brewing if that is something you would like. Please make yourself at home. [ He pauses, obviously mulling something over before opting to just be straightforward about it all.] I apologize that this may sound a bit strange but... I don't think the arm I woke up with belongs to me.
[Erwin is actually glad to get a left-handed shake from Anduin; it's always awkward when someone has to try and figure out how to make their right hand fit into his left.]
Thank you.
[The house is laid out similarly to Erwin's, and he starts towards the kitchen. He won't turn down a cup of coffee, and the lighting in there is probably the best to see what he's dealing with.]
[What Anduin says about his arm stops him in his tracks.]
You think... the arm originally belonged to another person?
[ Lucky for Erwin there's already some brewing and Anduin already makes a move to grab some cups, his right arm almost blatant in the fact is isn't moving. Anduin himself looks peaky but his attitude remains dubiously optimistic even if things are going to go the way he suspects they will....]
I know, as I said it's strange. I woke up with it after the whole...thing. Even then the skin tone was different. I have no idea why they would do it, but I can truthfully say this isn't my own arm.
[ Anduin pauses, staring at the coffee mug as he speaks next.] I'm not certain I could have tolerated it even if the damned thing wasn't going bad.
[The coffee can wait, this is a new and interesting development, and Erwin was right, the light is better in here. Anduin is also still coherent and not raving with fever, so Erwin figures they have a little bit of time on their side.]
Why not? Wouldn't it be better to have someone else's arm than no arm at all?
[Spoken as someone who is deeply, deeply missing his own right arm at the moment.]
[ Anduin pours out two coffees first before sighing and rolling his sleeve up. Just as mentioned the arm itself is obviously dead, the skin up to just above Anduin's elbow is a ghastly pale shade, ending in a flare of red around where the original incisions had been made. Fingers hang uselessly from his hand and as he turns the arm over palm upwards, there are visible black tracks starting to make their way up from Anduin's wrist. It's ugly and Anduin knows it.]
Normally I would agree that something is better than nothing, but I do not know the reasoning behind this. I cannot trust this town, or those who did this, to not have some kind of motive. I suppose that is selfish of me, but it would be dishonest of me to say otherwise.
[Erwin can't refute the logic, especially when whoever attached this arm did such a poor job. The arm looks awful, and he doesn't like how the veins are turning black. They've got time to deal with this, but not in excess.]
Has it made any noises that it isn't supposed to? A beeping of sorts?
[If it has, Erwin is totally going to dissect this thing once it's off to try and find the source of the beeping.]
[ All Anduin can give at the response is a small, somewhat guilty smile. He cannot expect anything this place gives is good in any shape or form and despite being the more optimistic of the bunch, he just can't accept this. It would feel like owing something to those who did this in the first place.
No, he'll learn to do without until a better solution presents itself.]
Noises? [ That's...unusual enough to have Anduin shaking his head before sliding a coffee across the counter to Erwin.] No, nothing like that. Should it be?
Preferably not. [Erwin takes the cup of coffee and sips at it. He's seen enough of the arm to know what needs to come next.] Others I know, who were taken, started beeping when we were escaping. It was as though they were being tracked. If this arm was doing the same, I was going to dissect it to try and discover the source.
[... he'll probably still dissect it.]
For what it's worth, you'll learn to make do with only one arm. It won't be easy, or pleasant, but it's possible.
[The faintest of smiles.]
And if I ever figure out a reasonable prosthetic, I'll let you know.
Well them, it was never my arm to begin with. Whatever happens to it once this is done is none of my concern.
[ If Erwin wants to dissect it he's more than welcome to, Anduin isn't going to spare it a second thought. That and the young King knows that getting through the ordeal and then recovering is going to be one hell of a task, there is no doubt in his mind it'll hurt, he just hopes that he gets the chance to heal. This place doesn't often seem to wait between it's punches.]
That is reassuring to know. I will not lie, I am filled with trepidation but ultimately I understand it will be for the best.
[If that's the case, Erwin is already making plans for dissecting this thing and seeing if it has anything weird in it. Hopefully Cass and Falco won't be disturbed to find him cutting apart a human arm on the kitchen table.]
A false arm, used to replace your actual one.
[Erwin glances up.]
I've been reading about the technology here, and they do have some possibilities. I don't, however, trust anyone local to do it.
[For obvious reasons! Erwin finishes his coffee and stands up.]
I'm going to go home and gather what I think I'll need for this. I should be back in about half an hour. I'd recommend cleaning around the incision line and getting yourself mentally prepared. [A short pause.] Drinking some alcohol probably wouldn't be a bad idea.
I see, I believe I may have seen some in my own world with such things but I will admit I never had much chance to converse with them. I would not trust those here either.
[ The idea of a replacement not given by this town is tempting, but Anduin knows he's going to simply see how it goes. He's no expert on this but the stubborn Wrynn mindset wonders if only using the one arm will simply make him stronger?
It's a mystery and one Anduin would never have wished to find out the result of.]
Of course, I will make sure to have those done in the next thirty minutes. Is there anything else you would need that I can arrange?
[ Bizarrely enough, Anduin is more concerned in making sure Erwin has everything that they require than sorting his own things out. It's the curse of a helpful nature, though he also won't point out there isn't any alcohol in the house — he doesn't partake and there has been no adult living there for a while now.....]
(ooc: did you want to handwave the rest? am happy to keep going if you are :3 )
[An interesting prospect, the idea of one arm making you stronger. Erwin would have to admit that he made some of his greatest gambles after losing his, and succeeded in them. The cost, though, was too high. On a personal level, it was way too high.]
I don't believe so. The most important thing is your mental state, because I'm afraid I don't have any heavy painkillers.
[That's not ominous at all, Erwin! A perfect note to leave on!]
[Erwin lets himself out, and true to his word, comes back thirty minutes later with a duffel bag thrown over his shoulder. He knocks politely and waits to be let back inside.]

Wrathion is around but I would never say no to more company if you feel like visiting.

I'll come over. I can at least look at it and help with what little I know, even if I'm not the one to do the final surgery.
no subject
And okay, I shall make sure there is hot water for drinks upon your arrival. Even if you are not working on my arm I shall be glad for conversation.
[ooc: did you want to switch to action or do a handwave? I'm cool with both :3 ]

[Is it wrong to be fascinated by this on a conceptual level, and to wonder if he could get a new arm in this same way?]

In that case, I have done field amputations before, and even had one performed on me. It won't be pleasant or painless, but I believe I can help you.

What is your name?

I'm Erwin Smith. And you are?
no subject
Anduin Wrynn. Well met, Erwin Smith, even if the circumstances are dire. Are you available today?
no subject
Yes, I'm available. Where are you? I'd like to get a look at what I'm dealing with before trying to gather supplies.

No, I don't think it would be wise for you to move, if it's as bad as you say. Where do you live?
[Erwin is also fairly confident he can hold his own in a fight, if this is an ambush, but he doesn't mention that part.]

Anduin? It's Erwin.
