I hate to ask this, especially here. Is there anyone here who has any experience with medicine? Or perhaps....removing things? Please let me know, it is urgent. If not I shall have to brave the so-called healers that reside here.
[ Anduin pours out two coffees first before sighing and rolling his sleeve up. Just as mentioned the arm itself is obviously dead, the skin up to just above Anduin's elbow is a ghastly pale shade, ending in a flare of red around where the original incisions had been made. Fingers hang uselessly from his hand and as he turns the arm over palm upwards, there are visible black tracks starting to make their way up from Anduin's wrist. It's ugly and Anduin knows it.]
Normally I would agree that something is better than nothing, but I do not know the reasoning behind this. I cannot trust this town, or those who did this, to not have some kind of motive. I suppose that is selfish of me, but it would be dishonest of me to say otherwise.
[Erwin can't refute the logic, especially when whoever attached this arm did such a poor job. The arm looks awful, and he doesn't like how the veins are turning black. They've got time to deal with this, but not in excess.]
Has it made any noises that it isn't supposed to? A beeping of sorts?
[If it has, Erwin is totally going to dissect this thing once it's off to try and find the source of the beeping.]
[ All Anduin can give at the response is a small, somewhat guilty smile. He cannot expect anything this place gives is good in any shape or form and despite being the more optimistic of the bunch, he just can't accept this. It would feel like owing something to those who did this in the first place.
No, he'll learn to do without until a better solution presents itself.]
Noises? [ That's...unusual enough to have Anduin shaking his head before sliding a coffee across the counter to Erwin.] No, nothing like that. Should it be?
Preferably not. [Erwin takes the cup of coffee and sips at it. He's seen enough of the arm to know what needs to come next.] Others I know, who were taken, started beeping when we were escaping. It was as though they were being tracked. If this arm was doing the same, I was going to dissect it to try and discover the source.
[... he'll probably still dissect it.]
For what it's worth, you'll learn to make do with only one arm. It won't be easy, or pleasant, but it's possible.
[The faintest of smiles.]
And if I ever figure out a reasonable prosthetic, I'll let you know.
Well them, it was never my arm to begin with. Whatever happens to it once this is done is none of my concern.
[ If Erwin wants to dissect it he's more than welcome to, Anduin isn't going to spare it a second thought. That and the young King knows that getting through the ordeal and then recovering is going to be one hell of a task, there is no doubt in his mind it'll hurt, he just hopes that he gets the chance to heal. This place doesn't often seem to wait between it's punches.]
That is reassuring to know. I will not lie, I am filled with trepidation but ultimately I understand it will be for the best.
[If that's the case, Erwin is already making plans for dissecting this thing and seeing if it has anything weird in it. Hopefully Cass and Falco won't be disturbed to find him cutting apart a human arm on the kitchen table.]
A false arm, used to replace your actual one.
[Erwin glances up.]
I've been reading about the technology here, and they do have some possibilities. I don't, however, trust anyone local to do it.
[For obvious reasons! Erwin finishes his coffee and stands up.]
I'm going to go home and gather what I think I'll need for this. I should be back in about half an hour. I'd recommend cleaning around the incision line and getting yourself mentally prepared. [A short pause.] Drinking some alcohol probably wouldn't be a bad idea.
I see, I believe I may have seen some in my own world with such things but I will admit I never had much chance to converse with them. I would not trust those here either.
[ The idea of a replacement not given by this town is tempting, but Anduin knows he's going to simply see how it goes. He's no expert on this but the stubborn Wrynn mindset wonders if only using the one arm will simply make him stronger?
It's a mystery and one Anduin would never have wished to find out the result of.]
Of course, I will make sure to have those done in the next thirty minutes. Is there anything else you would need that I can arrange?
[ Bizarrely enough, Anduin is more concerned in making sure Erwin has everything that they require than sorting his own things out. It's the curse of a helpful nature, though he also won't point out there isn't any alcohol in the house — he doesn't partake and there has been no adult living there for a while now.....]
(ooc: did you want to handwave the rest? am happy to keep going if you are :3 )
[An interesting prospect, the idea of one arm making you stronger. Erwin would have to admit that he made some of his greatest gambles after losing his, and succeeded in them. The cost, though, was too high. On a personal level, it was way too high.]
I don't believe so. The most important thing is your mental state, because I'm afraid I don't have any heavy painkillers.
[That's not ominous at all, Erwin! A perfect note to leave on!]
[Erwin lets himself out, and true to his word, comes back thirty minutes later with a duffel bag thrown over his shoulder. He knocks politely and waits to be let back inside.]
