This is going to be a very 'How Do You Human?' post and I wanna apologize for that. Still learning the body. Still working out the kinks. Reading things up on my own time to cover what I'm missing. (Thanks for the suggestions, @a.z.fell and @crowley. Owe you guys big time.)
BUT am I misremembering my lessons on human biology and, specifically, puberty or something? Because I'm really certain that you guys don't wake up gaining several feet in height overnight, right?
Right??

@polaris
A few inches over a few weeks is normal, but you're right, a few feet overnight is...not.
Can I ask what you were before you were here?
no subject
oh no wait, this isn't normal.
er- one step at a time, he supposes. ]
Alien-human hybrid with my dad's species being on the way, way bigger size. I was around thirteen feet so, like, I'm used to being tall but I know humans shouldn't be this tall. [ ... usually. ]

[ she's noticed she's able to sense metal again, and she's not about to out peter but he'd mentioned the same sort of thing coming back to him. she's wondering what could have triggered it. ]

[ again. he rather not be stuck in the background or the floor for sleeping. ] I don't want to complain too much, considering our situation, but this blows. I already miss having clothes I can fit in.

And hey, he's learned punctuation over the past month!]
such growth overnight is not normal. You've changed as well Daylight?
no subject
emojis update for the walkie talkies so takame can use them when.the more he hears how this isn't normal, the more he feels vindicated about his irritation over the turn of events while he struggles to find socks that will cover his heels. ]
Yeah. Woke up like this and have been banging my head on doorways ever since.
[ oh hey wait a second- ]
As well? Are other people also growing super tall?
no subject
finally he can be expressive in an artificial way]Not necessarily. I've kept my height, but overnight I've regained my original appearance.
no subject
[ this is definitely grabbing daylight's attention. he sits up straight and fucking shit dammit he hit his head again why the fuck did he suddenly get big again fucking shit what the hell is wrong fu-
a few minutes will happen before daylight sends another message: ] Sorry. Something came up.
Can I ask what you regained, exactly?

And I rather not be tall as I was again, to be honest. There's no way I'll be able to fit in anywhere in town if that happened.
no subject
Have you noticed any other changes or just your height?
no subject
[ much to his dismay and relief. he'd like to fly again but he also wants to, you know, not stick out from the crowd for now. ]

[Humans, monsters, or mysterious alien-human hybrids alike. Which invites the questions of how, and why.]
HAVE YOU EATEN ANYTHING STRANGE?
-ER THAN USUAL??
no subject
after giving some genuine thought to his answer to the question, daylight finally types out, ] I don't think so?
Besides the gross gelatin we got in the gala, I made sure to avoid eating anything that looked too weird even for me.
[ there's a brief pause and he sends another message. ] I did have a gross run-in with those murderous reindeers a few weeks back and a lot of its gore landed on me. I don't think I ate any of it.
[ he hopes he didn't eat any of it. ]
no subject
PROBABLY EVERYBODY'S EATEN SOME OF THAT, IF ONLY IN FOOD FIGHTS.
[He's eaten more than that, between feeling pressured by good manners and trying to figure out the appeal. And he doesn't need any gigantic growth spurts that leave him hitting his head on ceilings.]
THOSE MURDEROUS REINDEER -DID- LOOK BIG...
[It's probably because of the gore. Like a superhero falling in a radioactive pit and gaining superpowers, getting splashed with reindeer gore makes you tall. After a couple weeks.]
no subject
I mean the effort to get Agatha a Bible is nice and all but aren't the reindeer his? Shouldn't he be making sure they don't try and kill us?
[ in the back of his head, he knows that this is a silly angle but he needs to distract himself from the fact he cannot find any socks. ]

I grew several inches between my fourteenth and fifteenth birthday, but it took place over the course of a year, and I only ended up as tall as I am now.
[Plus or minus another inch or two he tacked on later, but there's no point in confusing Daylight.]
Are you... back to your regular height?
no subject
No, not yet. [ he really hopes he never gets it back either. mostly because- ] I'm thirteen feet in my original form. Give or take. So if I'm heaving a headache just being eight feet now, I can at least count my blessings and tell myself I can kind of fit in my bed.
[ because there is no way he's going to be able to fit in a house at the rate this is going. ]
augh, I'm sorry, I lost the notif for this!
Yes, I can imagine how that would complicate things.
Would you like me to accompany you to a tailor in town to get some clothing made for you?
[Sorry, buddy, but you're not buying off the rack anymore.]

But, believe it or not, I would be considered tiny on my dad's side. They're usually around what? Twenty to twenty-five feet in height if they're on the average side.
no subject
I also became a normal human when I came here. Fortunately I still look young and pretty.
