TEXT; @PARKOUR
okay, so, the longer i'm here and the creepier this place gets, the more i feel like we need to come together and try and protect each other. maybe i'm wrong, but i don't feel like the administration or police here can help us much.
with who we're supposed to be changing all the time (that sounds crazy but i had one "family" and now i have another), and people like the elves in the christmas village being like... that, i feel like we need to know who we have and be ready just in case
i feel like a good start is knowing who we are. who we're supposed to be. so we know if something is wrong. right? okay. so me first:
i'm peter. i'm from queens. i graduated from midtown science almost a year ago. i was raised by my aunt may. i like science and skateboarding and photography. that last one isn't as alliterative, my bad. i worked as a photographer but i'm also good at repairing things, mechanical stuff.
i know this talking about yourself thing is uncomfortable. dude, it took me like an hr to think of like 4 sentences. i just think knowing we're not alone and knowing each other enough to know something might be wrong is important.

@winchester
It's a good idea, kid.
I'm a hunter. Meaning, monsters. You name it, I've killed it. That's my dayjob back home. If you run into something and you need a ghostbuster ASAP, call me.
no subject
thanks. it's a start, anyway. we're all stuck here and it doesn't seem like townies are going to be much help if things go south, knowing who all is here seems like a good first step
monsters like... animals?

@kiara, text
My name is Kiara. I was a therapist before coming here. And before that I spent several years traveling the world performing medical and relief work.
If it helps, I'm also from a relatively modern time. I'm aware that isn't the case for everyone, so it may be useful information when trying to determine if people are acting like themselves.
no subject
yeah, i've met a few people who aren't used to the same time as me. it's weird for me to be in 1960s but it's the future for others, it's crazy.

I'm Lorna. I usually have green hair. I can move and feel metal. I have a daughter.
PRIVATE
( and, while Lorna is able to be open, Peter... well... he's not as good at that, as far as powers are concerned. which is why this conversation is now private. )
move and feel metal... like, with powers?
are they working here?

I'm Daylight vis Lornlit. The year is 2246 where I'm from. I'm not human and I'm not supposed to be on Earth, period, so I'm definitely finding this whole arrangement fishy.

Geneticist.
Are you expecting anyone to experience selective amnesia, Peter?
no subject
i don't know what to expect here. but this place reads stepford. all of us got slam dunked into a life that isn't ours, is it that crazy to think that other people already had the same happen but now it feels real to them?
i don't know. but since i don't, i've gotta start somewhere. knowing who i'm trapped here with is a good start.

I'm weak and a coward, but I have sharp eyes, a good sense of direction, and I can move fast and stealthily. I'm also good with bureaucracy and arcane spellwork, though none of my spellwork seems to work here.
no subject
it's not weak to be afraid, at least, i don't think so. somebody good with bureaucracy could be good, with the hold the government seems to have on this place
so you have powers? and they don't work here?
( it's good to know he's not the only one... though admitting he has powers to agree they're not working is a tall ask. )

a jaguar?? seriously? uh, wow. i've never heard of someone truly transforming like that, not in my world anyway.
( some people get spider superpowers, but thankfully he did not fullsale turn into a giant spider. )

Had to practically raise my kid sisters, so I know it isn’t easy. Hats off to your aunt. What happened to your parents?
no subject
yeah, she's pretty great. i miss her, but i'm glad she's not here. sorry to hear about your sisters, but, at least they had you, you know?
they died when i was a kid. a plane crash.
( he does not love talking about his dead parents, but he's had awhile to get used to dead parent questions. much easier to talk about than dead uncles or dead girlfriends. )

@PAPYRUS
BUT JUST THE ONES IN THE SAME BOAT, WITHOUT MORE GELATIN GIFTS.
GOOD THING WE HAVE THESE CONVENIENT TEXTING WATCHES!
[Almost too convenient, if he's being honest with himself. So he's going to follow Sans's lead here, and continue not sharing certain sorts of information. Especially now that there's the chance some monster hunters might feel the need to get their next paycheck. Fortunately, there's plenty of other things to share.]
JUST LIKE MY USERNAME SAYS, I'M PAPYRUS.
I'M FROM A SMALL SNOWY TOWN, WHERE I LIVED WITH MY UNHELPFUL BROTHER, SANS.
(HE'S THE ONE WITH THE USERNAME SANS.)
THE TECHNOLOGY HERE SEEMS A LITTLE OUTDATED... THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE WEBSITES.
I GUESS THIS IS CLOSE ENOUGH.
AS FOR A SKILLS...
I'VE TRIED ALL SORTS OF THINGS. CONSTRUCTION, COOKING, CARETAKING.
NOW I'M TRYING MY HAND AT BARBERING.
no subject
and yeah, i figured a place to talk outside of a slightly overbearing block party might be a good idea
those are good skills to have. i am a terrible cook, my aunt always did that sort of stuff for me
barbering? like, cutting hair? what struck up interest in that in particular?
( you make it sound like a recent interest, dude, what about this situation makes you interested in haircutting?? )

I also have working knowledge of first aid, both modern and otherwise.
Do you believe this network to be secure?
no subject
i know a little spanish but uh, just the sort you learn because highschool requires it. me llamo peter, dónde está el baño, that sort of thing.
( coincidentally he knows a bit about first aid, too, from the rare occasions he'll try to dress an injury in hopes it'll heal a bit faster. but not mentioning that particular skill for now.
as far as security goes: )
no. probably not. we don't know who gave us these things or who could be watching what we're saying, so we should be careful about what we say on here.
maybe i could crack into these things at some point, but i uh, haven't found a way just yet. and looking at internals doesn't even speak toward how they're programmed or how they broadcast data

But I’m not even from America, and I don’t know how I can understand all of this English like it’s nothing.

i'm from 2014. that's a pretty big time gap between us
wait, so, you're not fluent in english but understand it anyway? what? how does that work?

@erwinsmith
[Meaning he was Robbie-ed for awhile there. He still has a headache from it.]
I'm Erwin Smith. I was in the military back home; I was the thirteenth commander of the Survey Corps.
I see that you're a photographer. If you have time, would you mind showing me how to use a camera? It's a new technology to me, and I'd like to learn.
no subject
( Peter remembers that name, and even if he only spent a little time with Erwin, he seems like a decent dude. he can't help but be a little worried. )
the military, huh? i figured. nobody else has ever called me soldier before
sure. i can show you how it works. cameras are kinda dated here but i like vintage cameras anyway

what year was it for you? sounds like a weird question when we're in 1960 now, but it seems like there's a spectrum of times that ended up here.
