text, un: daylight.
[ in the mid-afternoon, after trying and failing to get in contact with the others and with suspicions growing by the hour, daylight finally sends out a message to the network at large: ]
It looks like people are going missing.
Two of my friends, Okuyasu and Kiara, haven't been responding to any of my messages or calls since yesterday.
I've gone around th town to see if I can get a glimpse of them and nothing. Nada. Zip. Jackshit.
Coupled with other faces not being seen around town anymore - Have you guys noticed anyone else not popping up? Or noticed your friends not responding to messages?
Let me know so we can keep a track of everyone's status.

falco was just gone. I thought he went to school early
and Levi
[There's a short pause as Erwin collects his shit. He's not a fly-off-the-handle type of guy, and he needs to keep his head about him.]
Levi didn't come over yesterday morning like he usually does. I assumed he was doing training or at work, and so I went to work too. But then neither of them came home, and they're not answering their messages.
It's been over twenty-four hours since I last saw either of them.

That's four people with names, who are in our situation, that vanished into thin air. All not answering our messages.
There's no way this is a coincidence. [ daylight pauses for a second, trying to check his bike's condition before he hopped on it and sent out another text: ] I'm going to bike around the town one last time, to see if anything or anyone pops out to me. Is he also going to the high school? I can speed by there for you.
no subject
I agree. This reeks of Santa Rosita.
Falco goes to the middle school so that isn't necessary, but thank you. I'm going to walk around my neighborhood and see if I can spot anything out of the ordinary. I'll keep an eye out for your friends as well.

he takes a quick pitstop near a grocery store and sends out a request/question: ] Can we meet up when we're done with our scoping of the town? So we can keep talking but keep it on the down-low?
I don't feel comfortable on this device but it's the fastest way to reach out to everyone in our situation. [ much to his dismay. he recalls a casual conversation he had with sans about making their own network or something and decides maybe it's not a bad idea. especially in the wake of this. ]

[Never put anything in writing if you can avoid it, a motto that kept Erwin alive while he was busy overthrowing the government back home. Even then, it'd been a near thing.]
I'll be in my neighborhood. I assume it will be easier for you to find me, as you have your bicycle.
( change: text to action! around late afternoon. )
erwin was busy doing what back home?? pulling a pre-dialup?erwin gets one last message from daylight before he refocuses his attention on his search, trying his best to sound reassuring and confident: ] Gotcha.
I'll swing by and give you an update on anything. We'll figure this out, buddy.
[ and even though the update he brings to erwin's house isn't the best, it's one he'll bring all the same. daylight cycles his way to erwin's house and quickly hops off the bike - which is the real mvp of the day, honestly, with how it tolerated daylight's constant use of it - and hurries to the front door. ]
Erwin? You there? It's Daylight.
action!
Overthrowing a false monarch and instituting someone sympathetic to Erwin's causes in his place. What, Daylight never did anything like that?][Erwin has been waiting at the door since he got home, and as soon as he hears someone out front, he's flinging the door open. Daylight doesn't even get a chance to knock.]
Daylight, yes. Come in, please.
I hope your search was more successful than mine.
[Although, judging by his face, probably not.]
Re: action!
what are his friends doing in their canons...he quickly ducks into the house, looking behind him one last time to make sure he hadn't been followed. a cop had stopped him when they saw him speed down a sidewalk and nearly clip a lady but they had let him go - still, never hurts to be too careful.
especially when there's a lot on the line. ]
In terms of learning more about who's gone missing, yeah. [ he gives erwin an apologetic look, his face twisting in apology. ] In terms of learning anything about their disappearance, no.
The most I can do is give you other names that I got. I also have a request. It isn't fair to ask you at this time, I know, but you're one of the few I can trust with this.
no subject
Terrible, terrible things...][This look--one of loss, one of apology--doesn't suit Daylight, who is usually so cheerful and sunny. Erwin can tell just by his face that it's bad news.]
Yes, we should make a list. No one else is watching out for us, so we'll have to do it ourselves.
[Erwin nods when Daylight asks about a request.]
Of course, what do you need?
[Does it involve some kind of insane, suicidal gamble? Because Erwin is an expert at those!]
no subject
instead what daylight has is a surprisingly succinct and serious request: ]
We need medical supplies. We need improvised armour or fighting weapons. We need a base or two for people to recover and to congregate if they want to share information or plan how to respond to that.
We need a lot of things, honestly, and getting a hand in any of that will be a big help. I'll try to shore up medical items and I'll convert some rooms in my and Agatha's house for people to recuperate if they need it.
Now- I'll list down we'll need to provide medical aid and the names of those missing so far. We can hash out the details while doing that. [ he marches towards the closest surface he can start scribbling stuff down, pulling out a pen he grabbed from... somewhere. ] I bet you've gone to the police too, huh?
[ and they've done jackshit? ]
no subject
[Erwin follows Daylight and watches over his shoulder as he starts writing.]
The police here aren't going to help us. We're on our own.
[Erwin has, in general, a low opinion of police forces. He's been left out in the cold too many times to even consider calling them for help.]
I have an idea of where we can start looking.
no subject
that immediately gets daylight’s attention. gone is the mild sluggishness of him trying to rack ideas or suggestions of what to do next— he’s on high alert, looking back at erwin with clear urgency in his eyes and in his voice: ]
Really? Where? [ inwardly, he can’t help but hope it’s not the police station because, oh wow, is wrathion going to be pissed at him for keeping him away from there then, huh. ]
no subject
[No, not the police station, Daylight was right in keeping the angry dragon man away from there. Erwin pulls a small notebook from his cardigan pocket; he'd offer it to Daylight to see, but it's written in Eldian, and he's not sure his friend would be able to read it.]
This is Falco's. He's been watching for changes, and odd things, and he wrote about his school.
[Erwin flips through the pages to find the one he's looking for.]
He wrote about rooms the teachers wouldn't let the children into, and odd marks on the walls where the paint has faded, and other things.
[Does Erwin feel bad about reading his pseudo-son's diary? Not in the least, since Falco would have shared all this with him later anyway. Any little doodles that may or may not involve the name Gabi he will consciously ignore.]
no subject
besides the issue of angry dragon man, the logistics of breaking into the station is a nightmare from just thinking about it. if it’s a school, it should be easier to get in there, right? ]
—Wait. [ hang on there. ] Wrote about it? He didn’t just tell you?
[ ... well. reluctant as he is to let it go, daylight reminds himself that they can tackle the moral conundrum of possibly invading someone’s personal privacy later. much as that hits certain buttons of his, daylight knows that isn’t the focus.
getting the others back is what they need to focus on. ]
So we go into the school, look for clues, and alert the others the second we sense something is up— That sounds like a good gameplan to have. Better than the 'nothing' we have for directly addressing the clusterfuck we’re in.
