It looks like people are going missing.

Two of my friends, Okuyasu and Kiara, haven't been responding to any of my messages or calls since yesterday.

I've gone around th town to see if I can get a glimpse of them and nothing. Nada. Zip. Jackshit.

Coupled with other faces not being seen around town anymore - Have you guys noticed anyone else not popping up? Or noticed your friends not responding to messages?

Let me know so we can keep a track of everyone's status.

Got it in one.

Some really weird shenanigans went down back in December. If you tried to contact them about it their only response was suggesting it could be a prank or we were mistaken. [ in hindsight, it would have been nice to have known this before he and kiara spent a whole afternoon playing the most morbid game of furniture arrangement (only featuring frozen corpses) but what can you do. ]

From here on out, I think it's safe to assume we're on our own when stuff like this goes down.

It takes an intense amount of will to ignore such realities.

Are we sure they're human? It's not uncommon to have deeply ingrained biases out of superiority. It is certainly the case for me back home.

[ not mentioning that he's one of those "deeply biased people" because he's a newtype that's annoyed he's currently useless here. ]

I have to assume they're, at the very least, humanoid.

Right now? There's no other way for us to confirm what/who exactly they are. [ outside of somehow incapacitating/killing them to perform an autopsy and... er... daylight likes to think they aren't being pushed to those limits yet. ]

in any case, 'humanoid' doesn't really tell them much, but that's all they've got going for the cops here. it means they have to devote more time to waiting and observing, sadly. ]

finally, he sends the short but full-of-potential message: ]

In the future, if we’ve got to, if we really need to, can we talk face-to-face if you’re serious about this angle?

[ because, hm, let’s not log easy evidence for them but... figuring out what’s going on here or who/what these people are would be nice. daylight is still conflicted and repelled by the idea of doing such a thing to another humanoid, a living person, maybe, but what else can they do? if this gives them an edge...

it is an angle they have to weigh on, long and hard, if push comes to shove. he might as well discuss it with someone who seems down with it. ]

Violence is a tool. So long as you are comfortable with that, we can talk.

for now though: ] Definitely a topic we should touch on in the future. There’s a lot of ground we need to cover if we want to shape up a proper response to what is going on.

Like it’s been pointed out, we’re basically on our own. No one else is here to back us up.
